…but here’s one: the macarons. I know this is horribly devilish of me, but which flavor is your favorite?

  5. Fifi Flowers says:

sooooo sad that I never learned about them when I was in Paris… I had my first macaron at a celebrity charity function last June in L.A.
Your photo collection of them is FAB!!!!!!!

  6. Tina says:

I have a secret to disclose: I had my first macaron at a function at Peter Chernin’s house in LA…ha! They were the half-size macarons and I ate about 40 of them. All chocolate.

  7. Sophie Appleby says:

Oh yum! They look so beautiful, almost too good to eat. I can’t find any macarons, here in my little country town. I think I might have to try and make some! What fun.
Thank you for such an inspiring post.

I fell madly in love with them 8 weeks ago in Chamonix. From that point on my entire focus was on macaroons and florentines, not skiing and hiking as it was the day before.
Ahh, the lure of the colours, the beautiful packaging.
Its all a girl could ask for.

  9. pve design says:

I was the lucky recipient of a box, and I had to ration them as after I ate one, I just wanted another – the ginger flavor was incredible. I love all the colors.

Terribly devilish of you indeed to ask favorite flavor. How dare you?:) I love all but "feeling" pale green pistachio for spring. (Coupled with pink, it's just so primavera, if I may mix languages.)Chocolate goes with anything, as a neutral, so toss those in, too.

Carol Gillott of Paris Breakfasts blog has the most obsessive collection of macaron watercolors, macaron pix, macaron this, that, the other. She's a talented, funny, & lovely person in NYC.

Alert for true Ladurée macaron amours (or those who want to be)& who want to declare it publicly. French friends made me do something that will possibly sink my abstract professional future: I became a "fan" of the French Facebook page for Ladurée lovers. (Yes, I blame them. The pressure was as intense as only the French can exert, on me anyway…)It's there, just type in Ladurée or macarons…

    xo to all, Susan

  11. giulia says:

Oh, to Sophie above. Nigella Lawson has a good, easy-to-follow recipe for the Ladurée-type macaron in The Domestic Goddess. If it's not online, you can email me & I'll scan & send. Susan/GG

  12. Charlotte says:

I think the chocolate macaron is the classic. . .the equivalent of a little black dress, by Chanel, of course. Then there is pink. . .sigh.

I just love stopping by to see what photos you have up – and these are no disappointment!

I JUST had macaroons the other day, at a local parisienne shop, but I must say the ones I made in December (Bouchon cookbook by Thomas Keller) were faaaar better.

I do sooo miss Paris – going to add this little shops name to my list of places to hit on my next trip over.

    Thanks!
