Bishop, California

We decided to take a trip to the Eastern Sierras this weekend…It was such a lovely getaway! We stopped in the little town of Bishop. Of course, I made a b-line for the bookstore, called Spellbinder. I picked up a copy of “Reading My Father,” a memoir written by William Styron’s daughter, Alexandra. Ms. Styron profiles her life with her famous father, who struggled with writing, depression and, at times, his will to stay alive. (Have you read William Styron’s “Darkness Visible”? It’s brilliant.)

I’m completely absorbed in this book. We’re back home now. With a few hours left of daylight, I’m heading out to the backyard to finish reading in the hammock under our giant magnolia tree.

Anyone out there read anything interesting this weekend? I’m updating my summer reading list!

I finished this weekend Slow Love: How I lost my Job, Put on Pajamas and Found Happiness by Dominique Browning. It was a really good read. Except the parts she goes on and on about an ex-love. I found him annoying. I say check it out.

Oh I love going through Bishop on my way to Mammoth or June! There's Schat’s Bakery and the really tasty jerky place and the view of Whitney. Great picture!

Hello! I just discovered your blog and I think it is so lovely ♥

The Eastern Sierras look like the most beautiful place for a little getaway! I started reading 'Alas, Babylon' last night and it is really good so far (so good that I may have stayed up past my bedtime reading… Oops!).

I am reading the new book by Albert Brooks, "2030." It's a futuristic look at America, and it is fascinating and very funny, but also pretty serious regarding the issues he deals with. I am loving it.
