I noticed since I moved from Blogger to WordPress, the number of people leaving comments on my posts have plummeted. It’s very depression, actually. I’ve been feeling very alone on my blog lately.

I know the WordPress comments form isn’t as simple as Blogger’s, but I made a little change that I’m hoping will encourage more people to leave messages.

I installed a plugin called CommentLuv. After you finish typing a comment, it will give you a choice of ten of your own posts that you can link back to on your blog or website.

Give it a try! I want to see if it works!

Testing, testing, one two three! (Also, I’ve noticed your RSS feed only shows a snippet now, minus the image — not sure if that’s deliberate or not…)

  2. Tina says:

yay! it works!!! i’m clicking over now to see your post!

  3. Mandy says:

Gotta see if this will work with Tumblr!

    Looks like it does…pretty cool!

  4. odessa says:

    hi tina,
long time reader, occasional commenter here. i’ve been following you though my google feed and really enjoy your blog. love your new wordpress home, its very clean and lovely. cheers! xo

  5. Tina says:

It works with every site with an RSS feed!

  6. Tina says:

    Thank you so much!

  7. jonas says:

All looks good and simple … i keep planning the jump to wordpress but things always get in the way …

  8. Liv says:

Haha, I love that you actually asked for comments, who I am to deny that wish?

  9. Tina says:

  10. Anna says:

Love your blog, love your postings, I am sorry for your feelings of loneliness…
Now I predict you’ll be inundated with a storm of comments!

  11. Giselle says:

Who doesn’t like comments and want to know what people who are reading their blog think about their posts? So here’s mine 🙂 Someone before me mentioned the snippet showing in the RSS feed; I prefer reading the entire post via RSS and then clicking through to a blog to comment, however, that’s just my 2 cents.

  12. Tina says:

Blogging and long-haul trucking are two of the loneliest businesses around at times…

  13. Casee Marie says:

Oh, I had no idea you moved your blog to WordPress! (I follow via Bloglovin’ but I’ve had very little time for blog reading, sadly.) It looks wonderful! I moved from Blogger to WordPress in January and it was the best decision I could have made. I love the completeness of it, if that makes sense. And CommentLuv is a great plugin, I use that too. Plugins are one of my favorite things – endless possibilities with them, really.

  14. Naomi Bulger says:

The last thing we want is to have you feeling lonely. Possibly I’ve been remiss in commenting but have been avidly reading. I’ll aim to be more communicative in the future! 🙂

  15. Karen in CT says:

… well, I’m still with the Blogger Dashboard .. not sure where you’ve gone, but I still get your wonderful posts. I’m not a blog genius, just fell into it, and started following a few people. I loved the weekend Breakfast Links this week. Not sure if you will get this, as I have no idea what you are talking about.

  16. olivia says:

I’ve been a silent follower for quite sometime.. i love your blog! i’ll comment more often!

  17. Isla says:

Just found your wonderful blog and I love it! So beautiful!

  21. Michelle says:

Perhaps comments are fewer do to the time of year, everyone is off enjoying the warmer weather and glorious sun. The new blog is a delight, a wonderful change!!

  22. Here’s a comment for you (hehe!)

  23. Emma says:

awww I love your blog but haven’t been commenting on anyone’s lately due to not feeling well.

I’d love to move over to WordPress but the thought of it does my head in, it seems really complex for some reason.

  24. Alicia says:

I love your blog! I am a regular reader but should comment more, I will be back. 🙂

  25. Cheryl says:

I don’t always comment on blogs. I have however, commented on yours before. Love it!

  26. G says:

I simply add you in all rss thing and whereever you are, I’ll be the first reader of new posts. I love your aestetics, also your tumblr. Sorry for bad english.

  27. Judy R. says:

I follow you through bloglovin and I’ve been getting the feed from your blog. I just weeded down the number of blog I follow, but you are definitely still on the list as I am posting this now! I didn’t see a bloglovin symbol on your site, but that’s how I’m following people now. love your site 🙂

  28. kirsty helen says:

just popping in to say “hey” and that i love the new look. im still over on blogger and get the updates. thinking about making the move over here myself but am still a fledgling in the blog world – its a bit daunting! as a lover of literature and aspiring author, i love reading your posts and getting inspired by your other readers too. my reading list gets longer every day…

  29. Anh Ngo says:

I have to say that I am currently undergoing the same unfortune as you! Although I daresay you’ve gained back some readers. 🙂 I created a new blog and have been updating it, but none of my followers from my previous one, A Little Yellow Button, have been following or leaving comments. It’s quite sad. I will have to work on that. But I love your new layout! It’s gorgeous! And the page loads very quickly now. 🙂

    Anh <3

  30. Anh Ngo says:

    Oh! It works! How lovely!

  31. Tina says:

    I changed it back. 🙂

  32. Krissy says:

Hello, hello! I need to get back into the habit of commenting more regularly! I don’t recall if I ever wished you “welcome” to your new WordPress digs. 😉 I lovelovelove WordPress. It’s the greatest. Hope you’re enjoying it now as well. 🙂 And here’s to no more blog loneliness. (Though I wonder if it’s just something that’s going around since it’s the end of summer? My comments have really slowed down in the last few weeks as well, and I recall this happening last summer too?)

  33. I think in the summer, I am lucky to read a blog. Commenting sometimes just doesn’t get done. I do like the way your blog is looking. Take care.

  34. Jen says:

I’d comment all the time if I could… however current workplace is not social media friendly. And I hope I don’t get in trouble for this! 😉

  35. Tina says:

Ah, I understand. I used to work at one of those places too…

  36. Tina says:

I just read your post “The Narratives of Our Lives.” I’m so sorry for the loss of your beloved daughter. Thank you so much for commenting on my blog and including this link. Sending you my warmest thoughts.

  37. Tina says:

Krissy, I still have your package!

  40. Tina says:

Now I really want to see this film!

Hi Tina, I Know your feelings. Love the new English Muse!

    kisses from Spain!!

  51. Lily says:

It’s a shame when things like that happen.. I think it’s because of the little form that you have to write in, it’s a bit of a pain!

    Lots of Love,
    Lily from Red Brick Lipstick

  52. Oh Tina this is the exact problem I suffered when I made the rather wonderful move from Blogger to WordPress, I feel for you, I really do, but look how wonderful your readers are and more than that how gorgeous the new site is…
    Have a lovely day.x

  58. Alison says:

I just recently found your blog and have been loving it! Isn’t it funny how comments make all the difference? Hopefully, this new comment form will work and you’ll be reminded how much we all LOVE your blog… Cheers!

  59. Just had to test how the new plug-in works. It’s pretty cool! I wish it was possible to do that with Blogger.

  60. Carla says:

    Long time reader, first time commenting. Just testing the blogluv capability. I’ll get into the swing of remembering to comment on posts ^^;

  62. Tina says:

    Thank you so much!!

  63. Squirrell says:

Your blog is great, for me the lack of comments is just because I use google reader on my iPod so commenting is a bit long winded. Doesn’t mean I don’t love to read it though!

  64. Helen says:

I love your site, but have a bad habit at just lurking, hope you are feeling the love you deserve now.

  65. Micaela says:

Awww Tina! The new layout is wonderful. Hope the new comment format works out! That’s the problem with WP; if only it had better commenting formats.

  66. Tina says:

Google reader on an ipod?! You must have very good eyesight, love!

  67. Tina says:

    welcome back jonas!

  68. Tina says:

I didn’t mention this in my last comment…but i love this new app you’ve installed. Super cool.

  71. Susan says:

Tina – I have to admit to feeling somewhat angry at your entreaty. You have not commented on my one blog where I take comments (bricolage) for a year. I have been ill, without internet at home for 2 months, all sorts of things. Yet I always come here & about 3 other places to comment regularly.

  72. Valerie says:

Love your blog…always have…you are one of the few blogs that I actually DO read and very much enjoy, keep up the great work!! Sincerely, Valerie from Manitoba,Canada.

  73. Tina says:
