Hope you had a lovely Wednesday!
I’m still getting lots of traffic on the Shakespeare post. Amazing what takes off on the Internet!
Bodes well for the future of books.

Bookstores closing down just breaks my heart, particularly the small independent ones I love so much, but even poor old Borders I really felt for even though they were originally posing problems for independent bookstores back in the 90s and I was initially against them.

I just don’t want to live in a soulless, high technology, cold world but fear that’s where we’re headed in so many ways, and books being phased out are only the start …

UGH I just signed that petition and totally agree with that article. Especially this part- “My stance is entirely based in emotion: I have an emotional attachment to a certain vision of New York, and that vision includes a good indie bookstore on the L.E.S.”

It is so emotional! I miss video and record stores too. Change is so hard!

I always adore your links! Thanks for sharing all this awesomeness!

  4. It’s a stretch, I think, to assume bookstores will disappear. People like books. They’ll probably become more boutique, an inperson Amazon recommends, found on high streets–a fate perhaps worse than closing.
