Love her attitude and the the simplicity of the list.
I just saw her at the International Festival of Authors in Toronto, and she spoke and answered questions in the same spare, no frills manner. She’s wonderful. Can’t wait to read BLUE NIGHTS.
This is why I love Joan Didion. I’m finally reading Slouching Towards Bethlehem in stolen moments amidst schoolwork. Did you hear the interview with her on NPR this month?
Love the solidity of her list…basic but enough…and her idea of having her typewriter with her at all times so that in any free time she can write is inspiring….
I absolutely LOVE The White Album. This is an amazing find!
God bless her, she has been through so much. I love her list and will try to copy it just a tiny bit .. I need all the help I can get when it comes to packing. Although one would think it would be easy enough- everything is black !
chau darling, C
i just met her in person the other day and got a picture to prove it! http://glimpseofglamour.blogspot.com/2011/11/dream-come-true.html
so glad there are other joan didion fans out there! xoxo sami
After all the fluff & frills of my younger lifestyle, I now realize this is really all anyone actually needs when travelling, except I’d substitute Vodka for Bourbon. Brilliant post!
Absolutely must read some of her fiction – so far my only brush with her work has been The Year of Magical Thinking but having just seen that she packs as I do, I need to read more!
