Having a blog is a little like owning a house: It needs constant maintenance and it’s impossible to resist the urge to redecorate.

A couple weeks ago, I blew up my blog trying to install the W3 Cache. I switched to a very basic template while calling in a professional — the lovely Laurie Rauch of WP Divas — to help me rebuild my site. (I also hired a nice W3 Cache tech to sort out the plumbing.)

In the process, I became very fond of my basic blog template, called Dear Diary.
So Laurie and I decided to do a mashup of the notebook theme
with the slideshow features on the main page of my original template.

I hope you like the changes!!

As always, it’s a work in progress.

35 Comments on Major Blog Renovations

  1. The layout is lovely, but I think the banner is too big. I have to scroll down to see the new content. I also was a little puzzled by the comment field (where to begin to type). The type itself is a bit light. These last two may be my middle-aged eyes, though. These comments are meant in a constructive & positive way. I really do think the airy quality of the site is delightful.

  2. I’m doing exactly the same thing, and took the opportunity to put you on my linklist, cause I’ve been a fan of yours for years now but never said hello or recommended you to my swedish readers. Changing that as we speak. :)

  3. Ooh lovely changes, Tina! I changed my blog quite a bit in October but I’m already wanting to add more to the alterations. I love your slideshow and the whole effect of the main page. It gives it such a unique look, unexpected and very intriguing.

  4. Hi Tina,

I cannot tell you how much I love this new look. It’s beautiful, elegant, refreshing, vibrant and subtle all at the same time… I could stare at these gorgeous images all day. the layout is perfection.

It’s funny how things come around full circle. Your blog was one of the 1st ones I found when I started years ago. Somewhere I lost touch, but back again. Adding you to my blogroll now.
